Kicks #3 - White Leather Vans Era

Hey all!

Here's some kick-spiration. I've been writing a lot about my travels recently hence I thought a kick catch up is in order too.

With summer in full swing, white kicks are very popular at the moment. I have to say that I've been looking for a pair of white sneakers for a while now and then I found this beautiful Vans Era   model for the price of only £25!- retailing normally at around £65. What a bargain.(Thank you T.K.Maxx)Naturally, being the sneaker head that I am, I couldn't resist and had to get them.

These sneakers are super comfy and the leather makes them durable, which is always a plus. Much easier to deal with than the suede models that get bad moisture damage.

I really love the subtle light brown insole finish that delicately contrasts against the clean white of the shoe. This makes this particular model super universal, it can look semi formal or ultra casual. The aesthetics are perfect and I'm a sucker for that.

Yes, they'll get dirty super easily but just avoid contact with excess rain(I know, nearly impossible, espeically in the UK;) ) and they'll last.

Size wise I am UK5 in Vans and that's the size I usually buy, however in this model I was forced by the size availability. to go for the UK4.5. Surprisingly it was't too small! Generally, I would recommend to always stick to your usual "Vans" size but in case you size is not in stock and you have a half a size smaller or bigger available try them on as they may also fit!

Here are some other white kicks for inspiration:

Adias ZX flux "all white"

Adidas Superstar in all White

Nike Huarache

Asics Gel Lyte III tripple white

Puma Trinomic "Black & White collection"

Air Jordan "future flow" in white

Nike Stefan Janoski in White

Nike Stefan Janoski Max in White

Nike Air Max Thea "Joli"

Kick #3 Vans X & Other Stories collab + Warsaw

Hey all!

Just finished my 3rd year of Medschool - so literally at a half way point of getting there- stoked. On another note, it's summer..so I have another pair of kicks lined up for you guys..winning.

Here it is - a very impromptu purchase from the Vans X & Other Stories collab. The collection features also slip ons in the same colour tone as well as an alternate, what I would call- "dalmatian" inspired design. Photos below ;)

I purchased the Vans Old Skool model in this lovely beige colour.
I like the clean simplicity of the design - very scandinavian. I think Vans should do more collabs such as this, right? :D

Size wise I stuck to my traditional 38. I used to wear Vans 24/7 so that's the size I always went for. It's a perfect fit. Take note that these shoes are made from leather, so they're not that breathable. If you're looking for a lighter sneaker, maybe choose a different model which is fabric based.

I purchased this one directly from & Other Stories' online UK store, where they cost me 80 pounds plus some shipping payment.

You can purchase this model at www.stories.com

The clean form, old skool design and the leather finish. What a perfect combination..

Alternate designs from the collaboration..

WARSAW, PL

Something a little less exotic on the travelling side of things..
Just posting up some photos of my recent trip to Warsaw.

Warsaw is a beautiful, historical City - which, unfortunately got severely damaged during the war, at one point it was pretty much equated with "nothing", that's how heavily it got bombed.

Warsaw, tells a story of survival of a country severely affected by many international conflicts. I have to show a little bit of patriotism so here's Warsaw..

If you happen to be in these parts of the World.. Be sure to check out:

-Nowy Swiat Street
-Plac Wolnosci
-The Grand National Theatre
-Lazienki gardens
-The presidential palace
-Some restaurants in Old Town
-Nightlife by the river is vibrant be sure to drop into "Temat Rzeka"-
-Palace of culture & science - our tallest building;) !
-National Museum & Zacheta museum of Art

Most of these places of interest are really within walking distance. I believe you get to know a place by walking around and getting lost in it's streets. Be sure to explore anything else that captures your attention!

People are warm and friendly. Polish people are known of their hospitality and in most places you'll surely be able to communicate in English.

Warsaw has a lot to offer and caters for all, be sure to check it out if you're near by!

Kicks #2 - Women's Stan Smiths w/Leopard print

Hey all,

Let's face the facts that for the past couple of years Nikes' sneaker game has been strong - Roshe runs, Jordans, Frees, Huaraches and new editions of Air Maxes can be literally seen on everyone's feet. I guess Adidas didn't wanted to be left behind, especially this year with their release of the Pharrell's supercolor collection ( I swear this guy literally does everything - too cool) that features nearly every colour of the rainbow (literally).

Revisiting the classics and giving them a modern twist has been a trend for a while now. However we gotta hand it to Adidas- they did a great job..

The Adidas supercolor collection..basically IS a rainbow.

Good job AND not only with the release of the supercolor collection.  (By the way -I really like the pale blues and purple hues in the 3&4th one from the right- it's almost impossible to get these colours though;/) I have not yet purchased any kicks from this line however I did give into another one of their originals..

I mean..who can resist a dope pair of Stan Smiths?!

Can we all just take a minute and appreciate these crepes?

I've seen this pair about before however never ended up buying it. However when I was in Warsaw the other weekend I bumped into them at the 7 Concept Store on Chmielna street, with an extra 30% discount and my size available- fate.

A black pair of sneakers always comes in handy and I loved the delicate detail of the leopard print - it gave this shoe that feminine touch whilst keeping it simple & classy.

Everyone loves uniqueness and thats what this particular Stan Smith has.

Size wise I stuck to my 38. On my right foot it felt a little tight so maybe a 38,5 would have been wiser but my option were limited. They are a nice width and apart from the traditional "first time blister" they were super comfy. So yea no regrets here. Totally recommend but be sure to try them on before you buy unless you already own a pair of Stan's.

Rough Price: 64,99 pounds (roughly 370zł)

Shops that sell this particular model (to my knowledge):

This is the alternative colour way - white with the zebra print

Until, the next time,

1st Kick - Nike Huarache Womens Bone Sail

First post, first kicks, first trip..

Why this blog?

1) There's a lot of blogs of all kinds around..why another one? First of all I really love my sneakers and I often find myself with trouble when trying to find some info on models, sizes etc..- especially as I am a girl, a lot of sites focus on guys crepes making it tough for, us, ladies.

Yes, there are many sites but for me they often lack practical info (sorry guys!) I wanted to create a blog where I can give my tips and opinions on the ones I happen to purchase and hopefully help y'alls with your "1st world dilemmas" such as size model, colour & availability ;) Note: I'm not an expert, just an enthusiast, my opinions are usually subjective.

2) Not another "travel blog" ;) -I guess since 80% of my year I spend away from home, so why not share my experiences with the www. Plus gotta make the blog less materialistic. As they say the only things you get richer from is travel ;) (+ kicks of course )

Let's start..

My recent purchase involved the "Nike Air Huarache Womens Bone Sail"
This is my first pair of this particular nike sneaker model. First of all I never was fond of the visuals of huaarche and the available colour ways - until this one..simply had to get these.. ;)

I love neutrals in my sneaks. It makes them that much adaptable when styling. At the same time they become timeless and not just a so called "hype" buy. Additionally they're aesthetically pleasing. Here is my quick review of the kicks..

If you're considering on purchasing your first pair of this nike model, in 90% percent of cases you'll have to go up from 1/2- 1 size up. Huaraches are a tight fit (and are meant to be), however don't over exaggerate with the size either- they will look simply unflattering.

I'm usually a US 7 in most nike shoes..in these I went for the 7,5.
I like the snug fit so I didn't take a whole size bigger (they looked too wide;/ )

I bought mine from www.runcolors.pl - one of my go to sneaker stores here in Poland - always stocked with fresh crepes.

Other sites where I saw these available:

BALI

On the travel front, I wanted to blog some of the photos which I took in Bali last year (2014). It was my first trip to South East Asia and I really enjoyed it. Bali is pure paradise, whether you're gonna end up staying at a 5 star resort or in a $10 a day shack, enjoy it. After travelling around Europe I was keen to see something  different. The Indonesian culture gave me just that. These photos were taken in East & South Bali, all by me. This is how I saw the Island!I'm a sucker for a sunset (as you will tell). Hope you'll enjoy them. Also if you have any questions about Bali, mail away!

Travel checklist
-Check required vaccinations
-Passport validity and visa requirements
-Book a ticket (one way?)

Once there, you should probably check out:
-Ubud and it's rice paddies
-Watch a sunset at Uluwatu's Single Fin
-Stay for a night or two in Seminyak
-Have a milkshake at Kelly's Warung at Bingin beach
-Check out the full moon party at Padang Padang
-Climb the Gnung Agung volcano
-If you have the time definitely go to some of the neighbouring islands e.g. the Gilis, Nusa Lembogan..
-Go out in Kuta!! (it's an experience) :)

Dreamland Beach Sunset
Sandy break in between Bingin and Balangan. Always a wise choice if you don't wanna get cut by the reef.

Padang Padang sunsets..

Lookout point at the Volcano & Rice paddies
- Central Bali

Bingin Beach
Most amazing sunsets..

Balangan Beach
Bingin Puppy

Jasri Beach, Karangasem
-Hidden in Karangasem county, near Candidasa. Finding this beach is not easy. You have to go through villages, rice fields and properties. This whole area has a proper rustic feel to it, minus the beachfront villas. It's also a spot where the locals surf, away from the touristic crowds. Some cool homestays can be found nearby. Perfect if you hate crowds and overly touristic locations. Here you'll find some peace of mind..

Hope you found this review useful, if you have any questions drop a mail, laters. MK
